Product Description & Properties

Tributyl citrate (TBC) is a good environmentally friendly plasticizer and lubricant. It is non-toxic, fruity, colorless and transparent oily liquid at room temperature. The boiling point is 170°C (133.3Pa), and the flash point (open cup) is 185°C. Soluble in most organic solvents. It has low volatility, good compatibility with resins, and high plasticizing efficiency.

It is allowed to be used in food packaging and medical and health products in Europe and the United States and other countries, as well as children's soft toys, pharmaceuticals, medical products, flavors and fragrances, cosmetics manufacturing and other industries. It can endow products with good cold resistance, water resistance and mildew resistance. After plasticized by this product, the resin exhibits good transparency and low-temperature bending performance, and has low volatility and low extraction in different media, good thermal stability, and does not change color when heated. The lubricating oil prepared with this product has good lubricating properties.

Colorless oily liquid with slight odor. Insoluble in water, soluble in methanol, acetone, carbon tetrachloride, glacial acetic acid, castor oil, mineral oil and other organic solvents.

Applications & Key Uses
  • Used as a gas chromatography fixative, a toughening agent for plastics, a foam remover and a solvent for nitrocellulose.
  • Serves as a non-toxic plasticizer for polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polyethylene copolymer, and cellulose resin.
  • Utilized for non-toxic PVC granulation, production of food packaging materials, children's soft toys, medical products, and plasticizing vinyl chloride copolymers.
