Selank is a synthetic neuroregulatory peptide, primarily targeting the central nervous system. At the molecular level, it modulates the balance of neurotransmitters, most importantly serotonin and dopamine. By increasing serotonin availability, Selank helps reduce anxiety and tension while improving emotional stability.
It may also enhance GABA activity, producing anxiolytic effects without causing sedation. Additionally, Selank has cognitive benefits. Experimental studies suggest that it can enhance neuroplasticity, meaning the brain forms new neural connections more easily when processing new information, thereby improving memory, attention, and learning ability.
Selank also modulates the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis, helping the body better respond to stress. Under stress, the HPA axis releases cortisol, and prolonged elevated cortisol levels can negatively affect cognition and immune function. Selank can moderately reduce cortisol levels, helping the stress response remain balanced.

The typical adult dose is 0.15–0.3 mg/kg per administration, or a commonly available 5 mg injection, adjusted according to body weight and treatment goals. It can be administered via intranasal spray or subcutaneous injection. Nasal absorption allows faster onset, while subcutaneous injections usually take effect within 3–5 hours.
Treatment courses typically last 2–4 weeks, adjusted based on symptom improvement. Long-term continuous use data are limited, and generally, usage beyond three months is not recommended. Caution is advised when combining Selank with other central nervous system medications. Use by pregnant or breastfeeding women and children should follow strict medical guidance. Mild nasal irritation or injection site discomfort may occur, but overall Selank is well tolerated.
