Selank is a synthetic neuroregulatory peptide, primarily targeting the central nervous system. At the molecular level, it modulates the balance of neurotransmitters, most importantly serotonin and dopamine. By increasing serotonin availability, Selank helps reduce anxiety and tension while improving emotional stability. It may also enhance GABA activity, producing anxiolytic effects without causing sedation.

Selank modulates the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis, helping the body better respond to stress. Selank can moderately reduce cortisol levels, helping the stress response remain balanced.

The typical adult dose is 0.15–0.3 mg/kg per administration, or a commonly available 5 mg injection, adjusted according to body weight and treatment goals. It can be administered via intranasal spray or subcutaneous injection. Nasal absorption allows faster onset, while subcutaneous injections usually take effect within 3–5 hours.
Treatment courses typically last 2–4 weeks, adjusted based on symptom improvement. Long-term continuous use data are limited, and generally, usage beyond three months is not recommended. Caution is advised when combining Selank with other central nervous system medications. Use by pregnant or breastfeeding women and children should follow strict medical guidance. Mild nasal irritation or injection site discomfort may occur, but overall Selank is well tolerated.
